History

This rivalry is known as The MoHawk Bowl - a combination of the two schools' mascots, Mohigans and Hawks. A traveling trophy is awarded to the winner of the game, which began as a matchup between big, urban Morgantown and small, rural University.

This crosstown rivalry dates back to 1967 and is considered by many to be the most heated rivalry in the state. Parkersburg leads the all-time series 33-13.

Rules & Prizes

Must be at least 13 years old to vote. There is no limit to the number of times a person can vote as long as the Best Mascot Rules are followed.

USA TODAY High School Sports began its Best Mascot competition at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 25 with 255 schools – five per state and Washington D.C. - in the state round, which ends at 3 p.m. ET March 5. The 51 winners will advance to the second round, where they will be divided among six regions. The regional round will begin at 11 a.m. ET March 6 and ends at 3 p.m. ET March 14. The regional round will restart at 3 p.m. ET March 18 and end at 3 p.m. ET March 20.

The six winners then will compete in the national round, beginning at 11 a.m. ET March 21 and ending at 3 p.m. ET March 27.
