The Red Arrows and Pioneers have been playing one another for decades - sometimes in front of crowds reaching 12,000. This year the two clubs treated fans to perhaps the best game in the rivalry's long history. In a four-overtime marathon last month, Lowell escaped with a 42-39 victory to preserve their perfect season and hopes of a fourth state title since 2000, three fewer than East Grand Rapids has won during that same stretch.
