Bishop Gorman
Las Vegas, Nev.
VS
Palo Verde
Las Vegas, Nev.
Total votes for this Rivalry: 265
History

Just because Bishop Gorman and Palo Verde don't play in the regular season doesn't mean they're not bitter rivals. They've played in the postseason six straight years, including in the 2010 and 2011 Sunset Region title games. And while Gorman has won the past four games, Palo Verde was the last Nevada team to beat the Gaels way back in 2008. Adding fuel to the fire, the schools are 10 minutes apart and many of the players grew up playing in the same youth leagues.

VS
Douglas

Total votes for this Rivalry: 7,124
History

Carson and Douglas are the only football-playing schools from nearby small towns just south of Reno, so there's a natural animosity between them. They've been playing each other in football since 1923 (Carson owns a 46-22-3 all-time lead) but the rivalry extends well behind the gridiron. The rivalry has been close as of late with the past three games being decided by a total of seven points.

History

Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley started competing for a hammer trophy in the 1950s, but the schools had to stop handing out the hammer in the 70s because students from the losing school would often steal it from the winning team. The school's principals agreed to reintroduce the hammer in 2007, adding intrigue to the already fierce rivalry. Moapa Valley has won the past eight rivalry games, keeping the hammer out of Virgin Valley's trophy case.
