This feud has been carried on from generation to generation, from grandparents to parents, and now to the active high school age players. Many of these athletes played with or against each other growing up, so the bond can be both positive and negative, and has been instilled long before they reach high school.

For 108 consecutive years, these two schools have been six blocks away. These rivals have known each other all their lives. No one can really explain the fire behind this, but the state association believes that due to the proximity between the two schools the fire is there instantly and is recharged every year.
