Boulder and Fairview share a home field, Recht Field, which is on Boulder's campus. So when they play each year, they're fighting for home-field supremacy and the city championship. Fairview has won five straight to take a 29-20 series lead. But the players are often an afterthought. It's become an annual tradition for streakers to run out on the field.

Located just seven miles apart, Centennial and Central kicked off the oldest rivalry west of the Mississippi in 1881. In 1950, the teams started playing for a bell trophy, which the winning team gets to paint their school colors and keep for a year. More than 15,000 fans usually attend the game, which Central leads 55-48-9 overall (34-27-2 since the bell trophy came into play).

The teams have played one another in the Class 5A state championship three times since 1998. Adding fuel to the fire, longtime Mullen coach Dave Logan defected to Creek last January after winning four state titles at Mullen.
