Show Low, Ariz.
This annual showdown between small-school powers is one of the most heated rivalries in Arizona. The schools have combined to win four of the last five Division IV (3A Conference) titles.
The Ahwatukee Bowl only dates back to 1997, but it has already become one of the biggest rivalries in the state. The two schools are separated by only four miles and the game attracts fans throughout the Phoenix neighborhood from which the game gets its name. Per tradition, Mountain Pointe fans dress in black and Desert Vista fans dress in white.
This rivalry began in 1906, when Bisbee defeated Douglas 7-6. The coveted Copper Pick has been awarded to the winner of the game since 1945. Until 1955, the teams met twice a season; once before Thanksgiving and once on the Friday after Thanksgiving. This year's meeting marked the 142nd game in the series.
