The winner of this matchup recieves the Boot Trophy. This rivalry runs deep, with some of the players having played together on the same Pop Warner and B&G Club football teams.
This rivalry is between the two main powerhouses in the state. South opened in 2004 and took in a number of students from Service due to the re-district. Many of the Service players then had to face their best friends. With a state area of more than 580,000 square miles, only three miles seperate these two rivals.
In a matchup known as the Potato Bowl, these downtown areas are only 10 miles apart. Depending on who you are talking to, people in Palmer and Wasilla establish their friends and enemies through grade school sports and stay that way as adults. Total opposites, Palmer has the industry landscape and the government headquarters while Wasilla is seen as the modern city, with malls and shopping centers.
